Your SMS verification code is not arriving — what to check
A missing verification code is usually one of a handful of things, and they are worth checking in order of likelihood rather than panic.
Give it the full window
Codes often arrive in seconds, but carrier routes queue under load and two or three minutes is not unusual. Requesting a re-send immediately frequently makes things worse: some platforms invalidate the first code when a second is issued, and a few rate-limit the number after several requests.
Check the number type
If the platform accepted the number but nothing ever arrives, it may have silently dropped the message because the number is VoIP. A mobile-range number removes this variable entirely.
Check the country
Some platforms only send to countries they operate in, and some carrier routes into specific countries are unreliable at certain hours. Trying a different country is often faster than re-trying the same one.
Check reuse
A number that has verified many accounts on the same platform will eventually be refused by it, sometimes without an error message. A fresh number resolves this.
