Virtual numbers for business accounts
Every platform a business touches wants a phone number, and every one of them wants a different one. Using personal mobiles for that is how accounts end up tied to whoever happened to be at the desk that day.
The problem with staff mobile numbers
A number used to verify a company account becomes part of that account's recovery path. When the person holding it leaves, the account goes with them — or at least the ability to recover it does. Platforms rarely let you transfer that cleanly.
Reusing one number across many accounts creates the opposite problem. Platforms treat numbers as identity, and a number attached to a dozen profiles is the signal they use to link and suspend those profiles together.
What separation actually requires
One number per account, held by the company rather than a person, and reachable again later when the platform re-verifies. That last part rules out most one-shot solutions: an account you can never log back into is not an asset.
- Rental numbers for anything that will re-verify — ad accounts, payment processors, seller profiles
- Activation numbers for one-off sign-ups that will never need a second code
- A number from the country the account claims to operate in, which is what most platforms check
Regional accounts
Marketplaces, delivery platforms and betting operators check that the number matches the market. A local number is often the difference between a working account and one stuck at the verification step, regardless of where your team sits.
