Selling on marketplaces without publishing your number
Classifieds and resale platforms verify sellers by SMS, then show that number — or a route to it — to anyone browsing. For a one-off sale that is a permanent exposure.
The exposure
Once a listing goes live, the number attached to it is reachable by every buyer, every scammer scraping the category, and every marketing operation buying the scraped list. Deleting the listing does not undo that.
Using a separate number
Verify the seller account with a number that exists for that purpose. Buyers reach the listing; your personal line stays out of the dataset entirely.
- Local classifieds where listings display contact numbers
